Meftal-Spas Tablet is a combination medication that is primarily used to relieve pain and cramps associated with muscle spasms. It is commonly prescribed for:

  • Menstrual Pain (Dysmenorrhea): It is widely known for its effectiveness in relieving the pain and cramps that occur during menstruation.

  • Abdominal Pain and Colic: It helps to relieve stomach pain and cramps caused by muscle spasms in the intestines or abdomen. This can be associated with conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Active Ingredients:

The tablet contains a combination of two active ingredients that work together to provide relief:

  1. Dicyclomine (10 mg): This is an anticholinergic and antispasmodic agent. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the stomach, intestines, and uterus. This action directly targets and relieves the muscle contractions (spasms) that cause pain and cramping.

  2. Mefenamic Acid (250 mg): This is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical messengers in the body responsible for causing pain, inflammation, and fever.

How it Works:

The dual action of these two ingredients provides comprehensive relief:

  • The Dicyclomine addresses the physical spasms and cramping.

  • The Mefenamic Acid tackles the underlying pain and inflammation.

Important Considerations:

  • Prescription Required: Meftal-Spas is a prescription medication and should only be taken as directed by a doctor.
