Geminor MP 2 Tablet is a combination medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used in adults when diet, exercise, and other single or dual therapies are not effective in controlling blood sugar levels.
Key Ingredients and How They Work
The tablet contains a combination of three anti-diabetic medications that work through different mechanisms:
-
Glimepiride (2 mg): A sulfonylurea that works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin, which helps lower blood sugar.
-
Metformin (500 mg): A biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver, delays the absorption of glucose from the intestines, and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin.
-
Pioglitazone (15 mg): A thiazolidinedione that increases the body's sensitivity to insulin in the liver, muscles, and fat tissues.
Uses
-
Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: The primary use is to control high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
-
Reduces Complications: By effectively managing blood sugar, it helps reduce the risk of long-term diabetes complications such as kidney damage, nerve problems (neuropathy), eye damage, and cardiovascular disease.
