Moxovas 0.2 Tablet is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. The active ingredient in this tablet is moxonidine (0.2 mg).

How it Works

Moxovas 0.2 Tablet is a centrally acting antihypertensive agent. It works by acting on specific receptors in the brain (imidazoline receptors) to reduce the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for a "fight or flight" response, which includes increasing heart rate and constricting blood vessels. By reducing this activity, Moxonidine causes the blood vessels to relax and widen, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. This, in turn, lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Uses

  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): It is primarily used to manage high blood pressure, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications.

  • Reduces Risk of Cardiovascular Events: By controlling blood pressure, it helps reduce the long-term risk of serious health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems.

Dosage and Administration

  • Take as prescribed: Always take Moxovas 0.2 Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. The dosage may vary depending on your condition and response to the medication.

  • Consistent schedule: Try to take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the drug in your body.

  • With or without food: It can be taken with or without food.

  • Do not stop abruptly: Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without consulting your doctor. Abruptly stopping can cause withdrawal symptoms, such as a rapid increase in blood pressure, restlessness, and headache. Your doctor will gradually reduce the dose over time to prevent this.
