Rosumac Gold 20 Capsule is a combination medication used to treat and prevent cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks and strokes. It is a long-term treatment prescribed for individuals who are at a high risk of these conditions due to factors like high cholesterol.

Active Ingredients

This capsule is a combination of three active ingredients:

  • Rosuvastatin (20 mg): A type of statin that works by lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and increasing "good" cholesterol (HDL). By reducing cholesterol production in the liver, it helps prevent the buildup of plaque in arteries (atherosclerosis).

  • Aspirin (75 mg): An antiplatelet agent that works by making platelets less sticky, which helps prevent them from clumping together and forming blood clots.

  • Clopidogrel (75 mg): Another antiplatelet medication that works to prevent clot formation by blocking a specific receptor on platelets.

The combination of these three drugs provides a comprehensive approach to managing cardiovascular health by both lowering cholesterol and preventing blood clots.

Uses

Rosumac Gold 20 Capsule is primarily used for:

  • Prevention of Heart Attacks and Strokes: It significantly reduces the risk of these major cardiovascular events, particularly in high-risk patients.

  • Treatment of Peripheral Vascular Disease: A condition where blood circulation to the limbs is disturbed.

  • Post-Procedural Care: It is often prescribed to patients who have undergone procedures like angioplasty or stent placement to prevent the recurrence of artery blockage.

Dosage and Administration

  • Always take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

  • It is usually taken once a day, with or without food. Taking it at the same time each day helps maintain a consistent level of the drug in your body.

  • Do not stop taking the capsule suddenly, even if you feel well, as this can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke.

  • The capsule should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it.

Side Effects

As it contains three active ingredients, the side effects can be varied.

Common side effects:

  • Nausea, abdominal pain, or indigestion

  • Headache and dizziness

  • Muscle pain or weakness

  • Increased tendency for bleeding or bruising

  • Nosebleeds

Serious side effects (rare but require immediate medical attention):

  • Severe muscle pain or weakness with fever: This could be a sign of a serious condition called rhabdomyolysis.

  • Signs of bleeding: This can include blood in the urine or stools (which may look black and tarry), or persistent bleeding from small cuts.

  • Signs of liver problems: Such as yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine, or unusual stomach pain.

  • Allergic reactions: Swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing.

Important Precautions

  • Bleeding Risk: Due to the blood-thinning components (Aspirin and Clopidogrel), this medicine increases the risk of bleeding. Be cautious with activities that could cause injury and inform your doctor or dentist before any surgical or dental procedure.

  • Medical History: Inform your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have liver or kidney disease, a history of bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, or myopathy (a muscle-related condition).

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: This medication is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

  • Alcohol: Avoid or limit alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of stomach bleeding and liver damage.

  • Diabetes: If you have diabetes, your doctor may recommend that you monitor your blood sugar levels regularly, as this medication can sometimes affect them.
